[Lincoln, a barista in a coffee shop kitchen, faces the camera]
Hi. I'm Lincoln.
And today I'm going to teach you how to make coffee press.
[Camera shows close-up of a glass coffee press, kettle, glass mug and a bag of Starbucks Single-Origin Guatemala Antigua coffee, appearing one by one while spinning]
First you will need a coffee press, a kettle, your favourite mug, and some coarsely ground coffee.
This is a really easy method.
[Lincoln touches each equipment on the kitchen top]
You got an eight cup coffee press.
I've got 54 grams of coarsely ground Guatemala Antigua and some hot water,
and we’re going to put them all together and make some great coffee.
[Lincoln pulls lid off the coffee press]
Take the lid off my press.
[Lincoln pours coffee grounds from a metal cup into the coffee press]
Add in my coffee grounds.
I've got - water's about 195-205 degrees (F).
Basically. take it to the boil.
Wait about 30 seconds and you're ready to go.
[Lincoln pours hot water from the kettle]
So I’m just going to add my hot water in about an inch from the rim [Lincoln turns the coffee press around]
is what we're looking for.
Once I got my coffee in, I’m just going to give it a gentle stir [Lincoln uses a spatula to stir the coffee grounds]
just to break up those coffee grounds
and then put my lid back on top [Lincoln puts lid back onto the coffee press].
[Clock shows on screen that says 4 mins] and let this brew for four minutes.
So four minutes is up.
All that's left to do is to gently press down [Lincoln uses both of his hands to push the coffee press downwards]
moving those grounds down.
All right. so once it's all pressed, I'm going to get my cup [Lincoln picks up glass mug on one hand, and coffee press with coffee on the other hand]
and my coffee.
Pour it in [Lincoln pours coffee from coffee press into the glass mug].
What's nice about a press is it's got that metal filter.
It doesn't give me all those oils and dissolved solids.
[Lincoln sniffs from the glass mug]
Okay. I could smell that cocoa-y,
maybe little bit of spice.
Give it a slurp.
[Lincoln takes a sip from the glass mug]
Mmm. delicious.
That metal filter gives me that kind of full bodied cup.
Super tasty. Super simple. A coffee press.
The coffee press delivers a rich, full-bodied cup by retaining the coffee’s natural oils and fine grounds.
The coffee press is a beloved brewing method for those who enjoy a bold, robust cup with deep flavor and rich texture.
Unlike filtered methods, the coffee press allows the natural oils and fine grounds to remain in the brew, resulting in a fuller mouthfeel and enhanced body. This method is ideal for highlighting the depth and complexity of Starbucks® darker roasts, offering a more immersive coffee experience. It’s simple and elegant, a longtime favorite brew method at Starbucks HQ.
What you’ll need:
Ingredients:
Consider the size of your press for coffee measurements:
8-cup (32 fl oz) press size will need 10 Tbsp (54 g) of coffee (coarse grind)
4-cup (16 fl oz) press size will need 5 Tbsp (27 g) of coffee (coarse grind)
Hot water (195° – 205°F)
Equipment:
Coffee press with plunger, lid and filter
Step 1
Measure out and add ground coffee to the empty coffee press.
Step 2
Pour hot water over the grounds, filling to the top of the press, about one inch below the rim.
Step 3
Stir gently (about 1 or two stirs) to evenly saturate all coffee grounds. Place the lid on the press and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
Step 4
Push the plunger down gently to separate the grounds from the coffee.
Step 5
Pour, let the aroma fill you with joy, and take your first sip.
The coffee press brewing method enhances the flavor, depth, and texture of coffee.
